Very proud of how far LW’s writing has come in just a few short months. Here is the report she wrote this week for Essentials (I know it’s not perfect but I think it’s pretty good!!!):
Gods and Games
The Ancient Greek Olympics began in 776 BC, as a religious ceremony. The most important Olympics were held in Olympia, because they honored Zeus. The colossal stadium surprisingly held over 40,000 men. The first 13 Olympics ,which allowed only burly men to attend and compete, featured no more than foot races. But they ran fast. Eventually, pentathlon, boxing and chariot races were added. When the Olympics ceased in 394 A.D., Rome conquered Greece, the games became corrupt, and the people feared they were no longer pleasing to the gods.
